Southern Comfort

We stayed in Belmopan until Wednesday morning and having completed all we set out to do we headed south to PG (Punta Gorda for the uninitiated). We were on the 10:30 bus heading for our next adventure. It was municipal election day here in Belize.

We didn't really eat before we left, unless you count a banana each and a shared bag of plantain chips and small bottle of orange juice. We thought we could grab something in Dangriga, but to our surprise, there was no stop in Dangriga. We pulled into the bus depot, off/on loaded and pulled right back out. We didn't know how long we had in Mango Creek/Independence, so we stayed on the bus. It was five very long hours on the bus, but we made it to PG. We wandered around, found a place to stay and settled in. The only problem was..... it was 4:00 p.m. and the restaurants and bars couldn't open until 6:00 because it was Election Day!!!

Not to be deterred, we walked around checking out the town, finding all the ice cream places.... no Tutti Fruitti, but we will check them all out and find the best.

At 6:00 we were at the entrance of Marian's Bayview Restaurant, the view was awesome, the food was excellent, and the cost was extremely reasonable. We will go back there for sure.

I will say, we think we have found the best place to stay. It is called the Blue Belize Guest House and we would recommend it to anyone wanting to stay in PG. It is a bed and breakfast and they ask you what time you would like breakfast to be delivered to your room. Imagine our pleasure at turning on the tap and getting hot water. Not tepid, not warm, but hot, you wouldn't have to boil water to do dishes here. It is actually more than a room, we have a kitchen, sitting room, bedroom area and private bath, as well as a patio where you can see Bob having breakfast this morning.

Time for us to head out and see the town, watch for the next update!!!
