Update

Well, we thought it was time for a little update...

In July we went for a quick trip to Canada.  Well 'quick' is not an apt description.  It is not easy getting from here to there.  It takes a few flights and two days.  Oh well, once we were there, it was a whirlwind endeavor.

We left Placencia on a Tuesday and arrived in Victoria on a Wednesday.  First things first, vehicle rental and to my brother Ken's place to pick up our 'stuff' stored there.  Thursday morning we were on the first ferry to the mainland on our way to Edmonton.  We stopped overnight in Hinton and had our first 'steak' in a long time.  Friday, it was on to Edmonton, where we met up with some friends and more friends.  Saturday, there was a barbecue and we saw lots more friends that came out to visit us.  Sunday morning, we were on the road again back to Victoria with a stopover in Merritt.  Monday afternoon saw us back in Victoria.

We had a lot of people to see and shopping to do, so we tried to organize it.

Tuesday was a 'us' day, we wandered around the city, did some shopping and went to dinner.  Wednesday, out to see Bob's eldest daughter and her family.  Thursday dinner with my brother Ken and his wife Deb followed by drinks with my two nieces Alice and Rowena.  Mom was supposed to come to dinner but declined.  Friday we saw Tamara and Matt (it was Matt's birthday), and went to a his lacrosse game that night.  Saturday we were back to the airport for the trek home to Placencia.

Bob looking very cold at Willows Beach.  We remember the days(vaguely) when we used to swim there.
Bob still looking very cold on Mt. Tolmie.

Our favourite sushi crew.

Coming home again, landing at the Placencia airstrip.

Our adopted son Nick, who came down from Canada to watch our house and look after the dogs while we were away.

Beautification or War Zone

It seems that someone is doing a beautification project of the parkland beside us.  The parkland area (as rumour goes) is privately owned as it is attached to the sub division known as the Placencia Bay Association.  It is strange that not one owner was made aware that this was happening.

One rumour running about was that they were going to pave it.  Hmmmmm a paved parkland, that would be interesting.

They started work on a Sunday and told people that was because they could only work on weekends.  If they were asked direct questions it was "No English, No English".

Monday morning just before 0600, we were awakened by the sound of the machinery starting up.. Sure enough, they were back to work.  This one is right outside our gate!!!!

Lucky for everyone involved, no wires were taken out!

At this point, it doesn't look very beautiful, more like a war zone.

We are afraid that our view won't be so great.

Who knows, we could learn to get used to it?

Down right disgusting is what we call it.

This is the view that the owners will have.
